Happy Valentines day!

The love day is finally here and I hope you are ready for it! Cute gifts, touching cards, sweet treats & home made delicious food is my idea for the perfect day. But if you are still wondering what to prepare for tonight, here is a quick and easy suggestion – just cook his/hers most favorite dish and garnish it with some edible hearts (in my case grandma style pancakes with home made strawberries jam for breakfast). That way you can’t get it wrong by serving something you never tried before…

And since I’ve spend the last week telling you what I love, in this post I want to share one more. The love for my husband and best friend, Deo. The one man standing and supporting me no matter what crazy idea I’m in to, listening to every stupid thing I’ve ever said and loving me for who I’m. Thank you, love, for being here all these years. I love you!

Now, enough said! For the edible hearts you will need agar-agar powder & a heart cutting form (the plastic cookie ones work too).

Salty hearts
  • 1 beetroot
  • 1 lime
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon agar-agar
Instructions:

1. Juice the beetroot and the lime.
2. Add the agar-agar, the salt and some water if you want to make more hearts and bring it to a boil.
3. Pour the mixture into a flat plate and place it in the fridge for 1-2 hours.
4. Cut the hearts and garnish your meals!

Sweet hearts
  • 1/2 cup frozen or fresh raspberries
  • 1 cup spring water
  • 1 teaspoon honey or agave
  • 1 teaspoon agar-agar
Instructions:

1. Place the raspberries in the water and leave them there for a couple of hours. Remove the fruits and use only the water, it should be red already.
2. If you however can’t wait – just blend them with some water and squeeze through a cheese cloth.
3. Mix the water with the agar-agar and bring it to a boil.
4. Remove from the hot pot, add the sweetener and mix well.
5. Pour the mixture into a flat plate and place it in the fridge for 1-2 hours.
6. Cut the hearts and garnish your dessert!

bon appétit!

  2. Thank you, girls! :)
