Most of us want to lose weight and they are struggling with weight issues all their lives. But the problem with all those people is that they don’t see the difference between weight and fat loss. And it is a major difference.
So, how to distinguish one from the other…
You’ve just heard of this amazing new diet that helps you lose 10 pounds in a week! Great! Exactly what you want, fast and easy. Ummm, but still, think twice. Even if you lose 10 pounds this week, you will be losing fat, muscles and water. Meaning in the minute you go back to your normal way of eating, you will gain 10 and even more pounds in an instant. Why is that?
~ yes, you lost some fat, but your body can get rid only of 1-2 pounds of fat per week and it is only if you exercise at least 3 times per week and eat fewer calories. Did you exercised that week? … No? I thought so.
~ you lost water, and it is the most easiest thing to gain back… Puf! And it’s back!
~ you lost muscles… Well, that is a problem. The more muscles you lose, the more your metabolism slows down and the faster you start gaining weight. Meaning you will have to eat fewer calories then ever and you will still gain weight or to be more exact, you will gain fat. Never forget: muscles burn fat!
Now, think again. You will lose 10 pounds in a week, of which 1-2 will be fat, 4-6 water and the rest hard gained muscles. Is it worth it?
~ you slowly change your diet to a more natural one, no stress needed to do it overnight
~ you start to exercise. Try everything until you decide what suits you best – running, swimming, fitness, pilates, yoga, whatever. Find your sport and stick with it.
Well, this is something else. You will lose 1-2 or 2-4 pounds in the beginning, but the combination of diet and exercise will guarantee that you are losing only what you want to get rid of – fat. As a result you will look slimmer, you will be healthy, you will feel and look great, and you will keep the pounds off. It is a promise!
And remember: A combination of diet and exercise is more likely to result in long term weight and fat loss than diet or exercise alone!
